First Anniversary: The New Year's Boycott |
|
iDou, for the uninitiated, are the current project of Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine's Les 'Fruitbat' Carter and his partner in crime Richie Abdou (still celebrating his win, lose or draw victory), and not forgetting of course their third band member - an iPod Shuffle. The premise is as simple as it is brilliant - record the drums, bass and keyboard backing onto said random MP3 player, press play, and go along with the flow. The sense of anticipation that it builds up is quite astonishing, as neither audience nor band have any idea what is coming next. The songs themselves are humourous and catchy, with Les' characterful vocals and cheeky lyrics adding to the sense of fun, and there's even a cover of Billy Idol's 'White Wedding' thrown in for good measure.
