9th December
Thomas Truax
Like a Fallen Tree (Instrumental)

Truckfest is always one of the highlights of our year, so it was a devastating blow when this year's Truck Ten was postponed due to the freak flooding of the summer. We were unable to make the rearranged date, and so missed out, amongst other disappointments, on another chance to witness the eccentric charms of multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, performer and inventor Thomas Truax and his menagerie of self-created band-mates, including The Hornicator (pictured), Sister Spinster and The Cadillac Beat Spinner Wheel.

'Like a Fallen Tree' showcases the more mellow side of Truax's sound, and is none the less engaging for it - a lush, soothing instrumental three and a half minutes.

CHRISTMAS COMPO!!!
To win a signed copy of an exceedingly rare Truax single released as a limited edition cd through Italian label Homesleep Records, answer the following question:

In which entriely non-fictional utopian town, currently an island in the Atlantic having floated away from the USA a few years ago, do many of Thomas Truax's
songs take place?

Send your answers to paul@mapsmagazine.co.uk by Friday 14th December. Winners will be drawn from a hat at Maps HQ.
