We rang out 2005 with 586 at their new years gig at the Spitz, opened our very first issue by interviewing them, and they headlined the first night of our Orienteering gigs in October. Aside from that they've released their debut single, the hyperactive 'We Got Bored', and its follow-up 'Money Is The Drug', to great acclaim, and have been wowing crowds in London and beyond with their powerful onstage charisma. We'll let singer/guitarist Steve Horry introduce the two tracks that make up today's musical treat: 'Eloping With The Devil' is one of the first songs Deborah and I ever wrote. This demo was started by Deborah and I in my parents house then finished at Simon 586's old studio in Esher. It's one of the first demos we did and is about a dream Deborah once had. 'Ricky Stardust' was recorded at my parents house at 3am one winter by Deborah and I. We were very, very drunk. This is the true story of my binge-drinking best friend. We're currently working on a new version that features tabla, thombomba, flute, melodica and an Egyptian sounding string section created from guitar feedback. |
